Very soon we could end the uncertainty about the next opponent for world super bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Panamanian Celestino 'Pelenchín' Caballero, who returned home to Panama to get in some work. He plans to return to Las Vegas in early October to resume training with Jeff Mayweather.

Rogelio Espino, Caballero's co-trainer, said yesterday that a deal for an opponent is almost finalized but there are certain things missing at the moment and he doesn't want to disclose the name of the fighter until the deal is done. He said Caballero will return on HBO on the 27th of November in Las Vegas.

"I would like to kill all of the speculation, but it is important to identify, secure and finalize a deal with the fighter. There have been many reports and none of them were finalized. We hope that this time it will be itself," said an optimistic Espiño.

The two rumored paths would see Caballero go up to super featherweight to face Jason Litzau or stay at featherweight to possibly face Jonathan Victor Barros for the vacant WBA title, which became open when Yuriorkis Gamboa unified the titles last Saturday by defeating IBF champion Orlando Salido.
