Brian Mendoza has accepted a difficult fight on short notice.

BoxingScene.com has learned that Mendoza agreed to face Jeison Rosario on November 5 at The Armory in Minneapolis. Mendoza replaced an injured Yoelvis Gomez barely 10 days in advance of the Rosario bout once Gomez withdrew from their fight Tuesday due to an injury to his right wrist sustained while training.

Showtime will air the Rosario-Mendoza match as the co-feature of a live tripleheader a week from Saturday night.

The 28-year-old Mendoza, an Albuquerque native, will try to establish himself as a contender by beating the Dominican Republic’s Rosario in a 10-round middleweight match. Two fights ago, undefeated junior middleweight contender Jesus Ramos (19-0, 15 KOs) defeated Mendoza (20-2, 14 KOs) by unanimous decision in a 10-rounder last September 5 at The Armory.

Mendoza stopped Benjamin Whitaker (15-10, 3 KOs) in the fifth round of his only action since his loss to Ramos, which took place March 26 at The Armory.

The 27-year-old Rosario (23-3-1, 17 KOs), a former IBF/IBO/WBA 154-pound champion, will take a three-fight winning streak into the Mendoza match. He has won three consecutive bouts by technical knockout in Santo Domingo since southpaw Erickson Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs) knocked him out in the sixth round of their WBC elimination match in June 2021 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Showtime’s three-bout broadcast November 5 will feature undefeated Cuban southpaw David Morrell Jr. in the 12-round main event. Morrell (7-0, 6 KOs) is set to defend his secondary WBA super middleweight title against Kazakhstan’s Aidos Yerbossynuly (16-0, 11 KOs), Morrell’s mandatory challenger.

Polish southpaw Fiodor Czerkaszyn (20-0, 13 KOs) and Nathaniel Gallimore (22-5-1, 17 KOs), of Des Plaines, Illinois, will square off in a 10-round middleweight match that’ll open the live portion of Showtime’s telecast November 5.

Showtime also will replay the Jake Paul-Anderson Silva cruiserweight fight November 5. Paul (5-0, 4 KOs), of Westlake, Ohio, and Brazil’s Silva (3-1, 2 KOs), a UFC legend, will headline a five-fight Showtime Pay-Per-View show Saturday night at Desert Diamond Casino in Glendale, Arizona (9 p.m. ET; $59.99).
