By and large, Caleb Plant has used his otherworldly boxing skills to avoid the oncoming onslaught of an opponent’s attack, while peppering his man with just enough offense to pick up the victory. However, following his 11-round stoppage defeat at the hands of Canelo Alvarez in November of 2021, Plant has ostensibly flipped a switch.

With the help of world-renowned trainer, Stephen “Breadman” Edwards, Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) seemed more daring and audacious during his showdown against Anthony Dirrell on October 15th. On the night, after lulling the former two-time WBC super middleweight belt holder to sleep, Plant uncorked a pernicious left hand, one that saw Dirrell’s lifeless body hit the canvas for a protracted amount of time.

Next up on Plant’s docket, is a likely showdown against longtime rival, David Benavidez. Although the 26-year-old has shown to have a granite chin, Edwards is convinced that, if Plant spots an opening, he's liable to leave anyone, including Benavidez, motionless on the mat.

“I’m confident that Caleb can knock anybody out if he hits them clean and hits them the right way,” said Edwards to BoxingScene.com.

Benavidez, a former two-time champion at 168-pounds and current WBC interim tag holder, has long been wanting to get his hands on Plant. With the pair fulminating over the years, they’ll look to solidify themselves as the next in line to take on current undisputed world champion, Canelo Alvarez.

Although an official date and venue have yet to be revealed, both men have hinted that their mouthwatering showdown is likely to take place in the first half of the new year. As the infancy stages of training camp are slowly getting underway, Edwards isn’t falling in love with Plant’s newfound power.

While he would love nothing more than to have his man issue a devastating statement, as long as Plant adds another big-time scalp to his ever-growing resume, Edwards will be grinning from ear to ear.

“In this fight, you don't look for something like that because if you look for it, you don’t find it. In this fight, we just looking to win the fight. However way the win comes, it comes.”
