Four South Africans are headed for important IBF fights; either title bouts or mandatory eliminators.

Promoter Branco Milenkovic on Wednesday announced details of fights involving Nkosinathi Joyi, Moruti Mthalane, Zolani Tete and Takalani Ndlovu.

Joyi is the unbeaten IBF mini-flyweight champion and rated by Ring Magazine as No 1 in the world in the division.

Mthalane is the IBF flyweight champion and Tete the mandatory challenger for the IBF junior bantamweight belt. Ndlovu is the mandatory challenger for the IBF junior featherweight title.

Milenkovic said Mthalane would make a mandatory defence against Ricardo Nunez, a Mexican. The champion has a professional record of 28-2. Nunez, the No 1 challenger, has lost only twice in 26 fights.

Joyi, who is regarded as the best SA boxer, pound-for-pound boxer, must make a voluntary defence against a Mexican opponent still to be named. The fight will take place in Mexico.

Tete, the No 5 challenger, will take on Roberto Sosa, one of Argentina's best boxers. Sosa is undefeated in 23 fights.

Ndolvu, a two-time former champion, is scheduled to meet Mexican Alejandro Lopez in a junior featherweight eliminator. The winner will be able to challenge Nonito Donaire.

Donaire won the title when he beat South African Jeffrey Mathebula earlier this month and is now regarded as one of the leading boxers in the world.

Milenkovic said all four bouts would be held during the next couple of months. The venues will be announced soon.

"I'm hoping at least one or two of these fights will be staged in South Africa," he said. A lack of sponsorships may, however, forced the South Africans to go abroad, where they can earn more money that at home.
