Timothy Bradley’s quest for redemption against Manny Pacquiao was unsuccessful as he suffered his first professional defeat and lost his world title in the same instance this past April. Bradley has scored a controversial split decision victory over Pacquiao back in 2012 and his rematch last month was supposed to finally prove who the better fighter was; unfortunately that night it wasn’t Bradley.

Exactly a month since the fight, Bradley was on hand at the Juan Manuel Marquez and Mike Alvarado media day and was asked to give his thoughts on his match with Pacquiao now that some time had passed.

“Oh we had a fight man. It was a good fight. I told everybody I was going for the knockout; especially after I got injured in the 2nd round. I had no choice but to stand there and fight him. I was throwing big shots, looping shots over the top and just trying to land that one big one in there. I came up short, Manny Pacquiao is a tremendous fighter. He fought well and he beat me” stated Bradley as he spoke to BoxingScene.

Bradley suffered an injury to his calf during the fight which was reminiscent to the ankle injury he had in their first affair. Regardless of the circumstances, Bradley refuses to use it as an excuse and instead gives all credit to Pacquiao for the win.

Surprisingly Bradley had promised he would be going for a knockout in the fight but it was more of a surprise to actually see him try to actually do it. Timothy is no knockout artist but he fought like one and many wondered if that approach was the one he should’ve taken.

“Whether I took a different approach or not, dude I didn’t think I was going to win on the scorecards. I mean, I thought the scorecards were kind of funny. I thought 118-110 or something like that was ridiculous. I thought the fight was a little bit closer than that so I felt I did the right thing by going out there and giving him hell and putting on a great show for the fans. I almost had it but it slipped away in the second half of the fight. Manny made a transition and made some changes and I wasn’t able to do what I wanted to do” admitted Bradley.

The loss to Pacquiao is looked at as just a minor setback for Bradley who is now on the hunt to get his title back. Currently he is still recovering from the torn calf but he feels he should be able to get back in the ring in October or November.
