At the age of 35, Terence Crawford has essentially done it all.

World titles in multiple weight classes? Check.

An undefeated and dominant record? Check.

A top three spot on virtually every pound-for-pound list? Also, check.

An induction into the Hall of Fame? Although that decision hasn't quite been made, it’s likely that he'll eventually check that off his list as well.

Yet, despite his long list of accolades and overwhelming achievements, Blair Cobbs has shrugged his shoulders, seemingly unimpressed. Having watched Crawford carefully over the years, the 147-pound contender is anxious to share the ring with the switch-hitting star.

This past weekend, after making it look incredibly easy against David Avanesyan, brutally stopping his man in the sixth round, Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) reminded the rest of the boxing world of his awe-inspiring knockout power.

In any event, in spite of Crawford mowing down his competition, Cobbs believes that if he were just given the chance, he would put an end to Crawford’s title reign.

“It looks like an ass whooping that you ain’t never seen before,” said Cobbs during an interview with BoxingScene.com when asked how a showdown between himself and Crawford unfolds. “You couldn't bet on it because most people would end up losing their money betting against me.”

Loquacious and as confident as ever, Cobbs has dusted himself off nicely since suffering the first defeat of his career against Alexis Rocha earlier this year. In the immediate aftermath, the truculent 32-year-old registered a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Maurice Hooker. In addition to repositioning himself for a world title opportunity, Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs) took great joy in defeating Hooker in front of his good friend, the previously mentioned Crawford.

Currently, while Cobbs would love nothing more than to swap fists with his new budding rival, he’s well aware that he still has work to do. As his team attempts to renegotiate a long-term deal that would see him continue his career under the promotional banner of Golden Boy Promotions, Cobbs is hopeful that his contractual issues will eventually work itself out.

In terms of his desire to face Crawford, although it might be considered a farfetched idea at the moment, Cobbs reveals that after studying the pound-for-pound star intensely, that he and he alone has what it takes to knock him off his high horse.

“I’m more prepared for a fight with Crawford than Crawford is with Blair The Flair.”
