Former WBA World Super bantamweight titlist Bernard Dunne believes that Bury's Scott Quigg got his tactics right at the Manchester Arena last Saturday but engaged a few rounds later than he should have.

The Dublin-based former fighter went with Belfast's IBF Super bantamweight boss Frampton going into the fight yet he expected WBA World title holder Quigg to put his foot on the gas earlier in a bid to grab the crucial middle rounds.

“It went as I thought it would,” said Dunne when speaking to The Sun (Northern Ireland edition).

“I thought Frampton would win the early rounds easy.  I didn't think Quigg would leave it so long to engage.  I thought he should have engaged, probably around round three or four.  I think Quigg got his tactics right in terms of waiting to engage, but he waited too long.”

Quigg picked up a broken jaw in round four and dropped a split decision to his domestic rival, who is now looking at fights at featherweight and may opt against a bout against Guillermo Rigondeaux, the division’s consensus number one.
