Mexico's Raymundo Beltran (35-7-1, 21 KOs) was really looking forward to a unification showdown with Vasyl Lomachenko on August 25, likely in Los Angeles, California.

But earlier this week it was revealed that Lomachenko has suffered a shoulder injury in the second round of his TKO win over Jorge Linares on May 12.

Lomachenko injured the shoulder at some point in the second round, underwent surgery and he's not expected to return to the ring until December.

With the win over Linares, Lomachenko captured the WBA lightweight title.

Beltran captured the WBO lightweight title in February by beating Paulus Moses, by capturing the vacant belt and now he wants to face the biggest names in the division.

With Lomachenko out on the shelf, Beltran would be interested in the idea of fighting WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (38-0, 30 KOs). That fight is not likely to take place in the near future, as Garcia is being lined up for a unification with IBF world champion Robert Easter.

"We were very excited about that fight, I would have liked to face Lomachenko. I know I'm in a very tough division. I see Mikey as the strongest champion and I also want a fight with him - I would be interested. I'm looking for the big names. Before they didn't want to fight me, but now I'm world champion and things might be different," said Beltran said.

For now, the Beltran is preparing and keeping himself in shape - for the first defense of the WBO lightweight championship, and hopes the opponent will be of the highest quality.

"I don't the name yet. Nobody has told me. What I want is to face an opponent of great quality to show that we are a good champion. The strong preparation is about to start. I will work for twelve weeks at the Wild Card gym in Hollywood," Beltran said.
