INGLEWOOD, CALIF. --- Top Rank CEO Bob Arum was extremely pleased with how the Juan Manuel Marquez-Mike Alvarado fight did on Saturday at The Forum.

The announced attendance for the first fight at The Forum in 15 years was 12,090 and Arum said plans to bring more Top Rank events back to The Forum in the future.

Arum had planned to stage an event at The Forum on July 19, with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. taking on WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. But Chavez and Top Rank were unable to reach an agreement on the terms of the contract.

Arum aims to restart the negotiations with Chavez, and his famous father, for a potentially ring return at The Forum in September. Arum would like to stage a fight with Chavez, potentially against Golovkin or another opponent, on September 13th, which is Mexican Independence Day weekend. Whether that's possible remains to be seen, since Floyd Mayweather Jr. has already made it known, through his adviser Leonard Ellerbe, that he plans to fight on the same date, likely at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Oh, definitely we're coming back here," Arum said. "We were going to come back here July 19 with the Chavez fight. Hopefully, we're going to restart our conversations with Julio Jr. and with the father present and hopefully, maybe, we do it for Mexican Independence [Day weekend]."
