Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is furious after a report was published by veteran sports writer Jeff Powell of the Daily Mail, announced that a deal was reached between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan for a fight on April 9th in Las Vegas.

Khan's father, Shah, told the paper that his son agreed to the terms and the paperwork was sent to Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, last Friday.

"Our paperwork went off to Arum on Friday and every point is covered," Shah said to the paper. "The location is definitely the US. The date in April may vary by a week or so but April is the month."

In that same article, Shah cautioned that a "Plan B" was also in place. According to Shah, a January date has been set aside for Khan's next fight - which clearly displays that a deal to fight Pacquiao was still an open issue.

'We have been here before, with Mayweather so While we are confident the contract will be back with us in the next few days we are holding the second Saturday in January as a fall back date for an alternative fight," Shah said.

But the paper was aggressive with their insistence that a deal was reached between both sides, which caused a firestorm of phone calls to Arum's office.

Because Daily Mail is one of the most popular news outlets on the internet, it didn't take long before Powell's report went viral on social media.

"It's total bullsh*t. It's complete bullsh*t. I'm sitting here trying to figure a way to sell tickets to my fight [Saturday in Las Vegas between Timothy Bradley and Brandon Rios] and now my phone is ringing off the hook because this lunatic made some sh*t up," Arum explained to writer Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

Arum has confirmed, as he did a few days ago, that Khan and WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford are the two frontrunners. The final decision will be made by Pacquiao.
