Former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito is not worried about the power of Manny Pacquiao. He says the Filipino boxer will only have speed on his side when they face each other in the ring on Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. I spoke to Margarito about Pacquiao's last fight, against Joshua Clottey in March. He saw Pacquiao winning the fight easily because Clottey refused to do anything in the ring.

"It's as if Pacquiao was matched against a punching bag. I said that were going to be  problems if Clottey threw punches, but he launched absolutely nothing," Margarito said.

Margarito is confident that his greater stature, reach and experience in the higher weights will win him the fight. Even with Pacquiao's battering of Miguel Cotto last November, Margarito is not worried about his power.

"Manny throws punches from every angle, but Erik Morales beat him easily [in 2005] and speed did nothing [in that fight]," Margarito said. "I do not believe that what he did to Miguel Cotto, he can do to me. I'm going to throw punches and hit him everywhere, even on his arms."

"He has never beaten someone as good as me at the higher weights. I feel very powerful. I will knock him out in this fight. I've prepared very well against southpaws. I have fought with real super welterweights and earned victories over them. What Pacquiao has is pure speed, but we have a good strategy."

The co-mananger of Margarito, Francisco Espinoza, says the catch-weight of 150 has not been an issue and this time they took a lot of time to make the weight right. Margarito had serious weight struggles for the knockout loss to Shane Mosley in January 2009.

"Tony arrived at the gym with 39 pounds of excess weight and only had seven weeks to get rid of it for that fight [against Mosley]. For this fight he arrived with only 10 pounds of excess weight and had eight weeks to get rid of it, which is the first time that something like this has happened in 14 years. Today he was only one pound above the 150 limit."
