Heavyweight prospect Andy Ruiz Jr. (20-0) last fought on July 27th when he knocked out the then unbeaten Joe Hanks in 4 rounds in Macau, China. Ruiz's ring return against Tor Hamer on November 23rd will also take place in Macau. The 20-year-old said that his victory over Hanks has his confidence soaring.

"My confidence grew because of that fight. A lot of people underestimated me. (A lot of heavyweights) They look buffed and tall but to me it doesn't really matter if you are cut up, you just need to get in there and fight. It really boosted my confidence," stated Ruiz Jr. who doesn't boast the physique of a typical fighter.

Ruiz said that he could tell early on that his punches were bothering Hanks and that when he started backing up, he knew that he had him.

"After I was backing him up I saw in his face that he felt my punches. In the 4th I got him with a right hand, a hook pretty good," Ruiz explained.

When asked to compare Hanks to Hamer, Ruiz said that he feels both fighters have a similar style but that Hamer may have the better boxing skills.

"He is a tough fighter. He is kind of like Joe Hanks but a little bit slicker. I need to apply pressure and put my jab in his face and in his belly and as long as I let my hands go everything will come through,"Ruiz told BoxingScene.com
