Andy Lee, co-trainer of WBC heavyweight champion Andy Lee, could see a scenario where Deontay Wilder will postpone the trilogy fight.

Back in February, Fury dropped and stopped Wilder in the seventh round at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

After the fight, Wilder exercised his contractual right to an immediate rematch.

The third fight was initially targeted for a date of July 18, but it was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Then they were targeting a date in October, but now it appears November or December is more likely.

But Lee would not be surprised if Wilder went in another direction and pursues Fury further down the line.

If Lee was a part of Wilder's team, he would advise him to face another opponent, like former unified world champion Andy Ruiz, to get back on track after suffering his first career defeat.

Lee expects the same outcome in the third meeting, if not more dominant for Fury, if the trilogy is immediate.

"I'd be surprised if he takes the fight with Tyson, right now anyway, because Tyson is looking so good," said Lee to Sky Sports. "I think everything is in open play again. I think whatever fights were made before the lockdown, they are kind of coming null and void, and everything is up for re-negotiation again.

"If I was in Wilder's corner, or on his team, I would say, 'Take another fight, maybe fight Andy Ruiz, or somebody else.'

"Get a win, get your confidence back up, and learn from the first fight. Try to improve, and then come back and fight Tyson again for the trilogy, because if they fight again, I can only see it going the same way, if not even more emphatic for Tyson."
