Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Biloxi, Mississippi - Andre Berto (28-1, 22KOs) stopped Jan Zaveck (31-21, 18KOs) in five rounds to capture the IBF welterweight title. Berto returns in his first fight since the April loss to Victor Ortiz.

Zaveck started fighting with more fire than we've seen in some of his previous fights. He was taking the fight to Berto, who responded well with a stiff jab and quick combos to the head and body.

The second round had good moments for both. Berto's punches were harder and seemed to do more damage, although Zaveck was landing his right hand well. During the third, they were trading a lot of punches on the inside. Berto was digging to the body at every opportunity. In the fourth, Berto was landing his inside uppercut often and then followed them up with body shots.

Zaveck rallied with a few punches at the start of the fifth. They were trading uppercuts on the inside as Berto trapped Zaveck against the ropes. Zaveck's right eye was busted open and swelling bad from a hard combination. And then his left eye suffered a small cut in the same round.

The doctor stopped the fight before Zaveck was able to come out for the sixth round. Zaveck's face was a bloody mess and the cuts on both eyes were bad, with the right eye swelling very bad.
