Amir Khan is looking to fight Dec. 6 in either Las Vegas or Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, a source with knowledge of the situation informed BoxingScene.com on Saturday.

Showtime Sports executive vice president Stephen Espinoza confirmed via email that Khan was “penciled in for December,” but the exact date is still to be determined.

The 27-year-old Khan (29-3, 19 KOs), a former unified junior welterweight world titleholder, has since moved up to welterweight. In May, the British star turned in a dominant performance against former 147-pound beltholder Luis Collazo, flooring the New Yorker three times and winning by double-digit margins on all three cards.

However, a Dec. 6 card at either venue would conflict with his promoter Golden Boy’s desire to stage junior middleweight star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s return in Houston, reportedly against Joshua Clottey on HBO, on the same night.

If a Dec. 6 date for Khan comes to fruition and those two sites are in play, Las Vegas might be a more viable option. Earlier this month, Haymon ran into conflict with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports after Peter Quillin, a Haymon client, pulled out of a fight that Roc Nation had won the right to promote via purse bid.

The nixed card was planned for Nov. 1 at the Barclays Center, whose CEO Brett Yormark is identical twins with Roc Nation president and chief strategy officer Michael Yormark.
