Welterweight contender Alexander Besputin has been inactive since November 2019.

The unbeaten boxer is now scheduled to hold his next bout on March 20 at the Megasport Arena in Moscow, a spokesman for the event organizers told Tass.

"Alexander is set to fight in Moscow on March 20," the spokesman said without specifying the name of the opponent.

The main event will feature Russia’s WBC, IBF light heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev in a title defense against German contender Adam Deines.

ESPN+ will stream the fights in the United States.

Besputin, 29-year-old, has an unblemished record of 13 wins, including nine by knockout.

As a talented amateur, Besputin was the 2012 Russian champion, the 2013 European champion and the silver medalist of the 2015 European Games.

He won the WBA's "regular" welterweight title on November 30, 2019 in Monaco, defeating his compatriot Radzhab Butaev with a twelve round unanimous decision.

After the fight in Monaco, doping inspectors collected samples from both boxers.

The result of Besputin's A-sample was revealed in January 2020 - indicating the presence of a banned performance enhancing drug, Ligandrol, in his body.

Besputin disputed the report and made a request to have his B-sample tested - and the outcome of the review came back in June of 2020, also showing a positive result for the same banned substance.

After the B-sample came back positive, the WBA stripped Besputin of his title and handed him a six-month suspension which began on July 4, 2020.

Besputin is promoted in the United States by Top Rank and his career is guided by veteran manager Egis Klimas.

With the exception of the fight in Monaco, all of his bouts have been held in the United States.
