Recently WBO super middleweight belt-holder Billy Joe Saunders (24-0, 12 KOs) made statements that the reason why Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) suddenly looks much more beatable in the ring is the implementation of more stringent drug testing.

These comments by Saunders are coming off Golovkin's twelve round decision over Daniel Jacobs, where GGG was taken the distance for the first time in 24 outings.

Abel Sanchez, who trains Golovkin, responded to BoxingScene.com - "Y'know, I don't know if it's him and (Tyson) Fury that are so close in relationship as far as where they're from and how they grew up but the both seem to be talking silly stuff and stupid stuff and they don't make any sense. But Billy Joe Saunders needs to concentrate on the little guy (Avantil Khurtsidze) he's going to have in front of him in the next few months because he's got a tough fight in front of him."

Sanchez says comments of this nature do not upset him.

"Not really, because it's irrelevant," he stated. "Gennady, our group, our team is doing too well to worry about something frivolous like that. It would be foolish, I've got better things to occupy my time and worry about what Billy Joe Saunders is saying."

In the wake of the tougher-than-expected outing against Jacobs, there has been subtle shift in perception of Golovkin. To which Sanchez explained - "Somebody asked me about had bad Golovkin looked. My question to them was, 'How did Jacobs look to you?'' Oh, he looked great what a great fighter.' For me to say Gennady looked bad would be putting Jacobs down. I mean, Jacobs looked great and the guys who are going to be facing Gennady it's a lottery ticket for them.

"If they don't get ready, if they don't get prepared to the point, physically and mentally, they can be - then why are they facing Gennady? The fact (Jacobs) went twelve rounds is good for Gennady because at least we know he can go a strong twelve. He didn't get the knockout but you know what? You're not going to knock everybody out and if he had they'd be calling Danny Jacobs a bum."
