China's WBO flyweight champion Zou Shiming recently announced that he has joined up with Chinese boxing tournament League of Fists as a boxing promoter.

Despite signing on as a promoter, the 35-year-old - who recently defeated Thai boxer Prasitsak Phaphrom in Las Vegas to claim the world title - has no plans for retirement.

After winning the title, Zou now has nine months to compete in his first defence. Speaking to Chinese media, he admitted that he is open with regards to where the fight will take place.

"Either at home or abroad is equally likely," said Zou. "If it's in China then it has to be a suitable location. We want to promote professional boxing with a high level of competition."

League of Fists is a Chinese professional boxing tournament co-organised by Zou's agency SECA and the US boxing promotion Top Rank.

During the first season of the competition, boxers who impressed were awarded fights on the undercard of Zou's WBO International flyweight title fight against Natan Santana Countinho in January.

The 26-year-old from Kuala Lumpur improved his professional record to 7-1 (3), while Pangaribuan (37) dropped to 10-10-3 (5). Time of stoppage was 1:36.

The Meeraj vs.Pangaribuan UBO Asia-Pacific Light Heavyweight title fight was promoted by Singapore Fighting Championships and Ringstar Management, and one of several championship fights on a show billed as SFC4 – Changing The Game.
