Zac Dunn certainly didn't need any assistance in turning back the challenge of Beibi Berrocal. Yet it wouldn't be entirely accurate to suggest he didn't receive any help, as the unbeaten Aussie was granted a 2nd round stoppage win Friday evening in Carlton, Australia.

The action was in one direction for the brief affair, with Dunn well in control and looking sharp. It can be stated that he was going to find a way to stop Berrocal on his own accord, and that would be a fair assessment.

Still, the itchy trigger finger of referee Jim Boland deprived fans and viewers of a satisfactory ending.

Berrocal—a southpaw fighting outside of Colombia for just the second time in his career—was clipped late in round two and under attack in the final 30 seconds of the frame. Dunn went in for the kill, but was only able to get off a few more punches before the third man rushed in to stop the contest.

The official time was 2:41 of round two.

While the locals loved the fact that their guy won, viewers clearly hoped to see a little bit more and for Dunn to deliver an explosive ending.

Nevertheless, the rising prospect remains unbeaten as he improves to 16-0 (14KOs). The Melbourne native has only been ten rounds just once in his career, that moment having come last February. He has since racked up five consecutive knockouts in a span of just over a year.

Berrocal (14-3, 14KOs) snaps a nine-fight unbeaten skid. The 27-year old is now 0-2 away from home, having dropped a 10-round decision to then-unbeaten Marcos Reyes in their Sept. '09 clash of prospects in Mexico.

UNDERCARD

Robert Berridge (25-2-1, 21KOs) recovered from last summer's knockout loss to Vasily Lephikin with a 5th round stoppage of overmatched Togasilimai Letoa (15-16-1, 8KOs). Berridge dropped Letoa in round five in forcing the stoppage.

Heavyweight action saw Ben Capps (11-2, 3KOs) score a minor upset with a 7th round stoppage of Fred Tukes in the evening's chief support. Capps rallied to stun Tukes (12-2-2, 6KOs), hurting the middle aged heavyweight and going on the attack before prompting the referee to stop the contest. The bout was a rematch to their six-round draw last December.
