LAVA Promotions, in association with the Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo MI, presents “Battle of the Week at Silver Creek” on April 12th.

The main event features a mandatory title bout between Philadelphia’s Yusaf Mack (31-5-2, 17KOs) and Chicago’s Cedric Agnew (25-0, 13KOs). Mack, who has been atop the Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight rankings, will be putting his USBA Light Heavy Weight Title on the line against Agnew, a former National Golden Gloves Champion who is now undefeated as a professional.

The undercard will feature “Gentleman” James Shorter (3-1, 3KOs), a 2011 US Olympic Trials qualifier, in a rematch against Jamal Woods (2-6, 2KOs).  Shorter, who is coming off a controversial lost in December, is still one of the most feared and avoided young fighters in the cruiserweight and heavyweight division. “Only giants over 250lbs are willing to fight him, but he has consistently weighed in around 200lbs!” explained Shorter's trainer, Larry Young.

Andrew “Warrior” Campbell will be making his pro debut against Michael Picket (1-2).  Campbell, who is a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, is a hard hitting young prospect who won the 2012 Indiana Golden Gloves in the novice division.

Two additional matches promise hard-hitting and intense action: Sam Gipson (4-5, 2KOs) versus Angel Figueroa (2-0) and Ryan St. Germain (2-6, 2KOs) versus Rayshawn Myers (4-16, 3KOs) in the welterweight and heavyweight divisions, respectively. Eva Jones-Young from LAVA Promotions expressed her excitement for the two opening matches, “Forget about the records of these fighters, the audience will see two wars.  These are blue-collar warriors who will really fight.”

The weigh-ins and a press conference will be held on Thursday, April 11 at 6pm EST at the Silver Creek Event Center inside the Four Winds Casino, New Buffalo (11111 Wilson Rd. New Buffalo, MI 49117).
