Explanada Tecate, Sonora, Mexico - The fight began with a relentless war. Veteran former champion Luis Ramon "Yori Boy" Campas picked up a controversial stoppage victory over Rogelio Medina in a ten round middleweight contest. In the sixth round, "Yori Boy" (98-15-1, 77 KOs) dropped Medina (25-2, 19 KOs) with a shot that clearly appeared to be below the belt. The referee missed the shot and issued a count, which ultimately resulted in Campas being announced as the winner. The fight was a back and forth war for four round.

In the fifth Campas began to slow down and started using any tactics necessary to survive. After the fight was over, a protest was issued by Medina's team, and supported by his promoter Latin Sports. Jose Cruz Martinez, president of the Boxing Commission in Sonora, agreed to analyze the facts in the coming days and promised issue a change in the outcome of the fight, if deemed necessary.
