The 2005 boxing year saw many changes, some good, some bad and some completely outrageous.  The best fight of the year was when Corrales met up with Castillo in their first meeting.  Corrales survived two knockdowns to come back and stop Castillo with it all taking place in the tenth round.

Jermain Taylor beating Bernard Hopkins to become undisputed.  Roy Jones' come back against Antonio Tarver. Although unsuccessful in his attempt to avenge his loss, it was still a win for him being able to overcome two knockouts and survive twelve rounds in his rubber match.

Speaking of which, Antonio Tarver, landed the starring role in the latest Rocky movie playing the heavyweight Mason "The Line" Dixon.  There has been much to absorb in 2005 like the untimely death of Leavander Johnson, may he rest in peace, but nevertheless 2006 promises to be an awesome year for fight fans all across the globe.

SHOWTIME Boxing Network starts the New Year off with a knockout: Zab Judah defending his welterweight titles against Carlos Baldimor on Jan 7.  On the same night, Jean-Marc Mormeck squares off against O'Neil Bell for the unified Cruiserweight titles.

Then we have Diego Corrales ready to avenge his fourth round KO loss to the steel jawed Jose Louis Castillo on Feb 4, in El Paso, Texas.

And if that's not enough, Jeff "LeftHook" Lacy will travel to Manchester, England on March 4, just one month later to try to unify the titles in the most anticipated super middleweight showdown against Joe Calzaghe!

Give me a second while I catch my breath.  Okay, with all that said, lets look ahead for a minute at all the possibilities of what can take place if we cross our fingers.  For starters, Floyd Mayweather and Zab Judah, all but done.  Who will be left standing?

My vote's for Super Man, I've never been too keen on Pretty Boys, but I take nothing away from Mayweather. He is as talented as they come and has solidified his place in boxing history.

Winky Wright facing Jermain Taylor.  I know this does not have the makings of a Judah/Mayweather fight, but if Winky can get pass Taylor (which I know he will) and they fight for the belts (which they more than likely will), he'll become undisputed for the second time in a different weight class which many have not been able to achieve.

And lets not forget the big boys - the heavyweights. With the newly crowned Nikolai Valuev taking the title away from John Ruiz, whether fairly or unfairly, we now have a new player in the heavyweight shuffle.  Who will be able to slay the giant?

That task alone will place the proverbial "David" at the top of the heavyweight throne.  The possibilities are endless, and in boxing any and everything can happen.
