Gamal Yafai looks set to fight again before the end of the year.

The Commonwealth super-bantamweight champion is expected to defend his title for the second time in the winter, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Yafai (10-0, 4 KOs) will come up against Emmanuel Quartey (20-2, 19 KOs) on December 3 at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, as part of a card being staged by promoter Eddie Hearn –– who won the purse bids –– and his company Matchroom Sport.

The 25-year-old, who won the belt against former holder Bobby Jenkinson (9-2-1, 2 KOs) with a seventh round stoppage at the Genting Arena back in March, recently retained the title.

He went to points over 12 rounds with former British super-bantamweight title challenger Josh Wale, winning the fight on all three judges’ cards, by margins of 118-111 and 117-112 twice, on July 30 at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Quartey, who is rated number one of 10 super-bantamweights in his native Ghana and the current holder of the Ghanaian title at the weight, has not fought so far this calendar year and was most recently in the ring in December, 2015 when he ended the challenge of Isaac Nettey in the seventh of 12 scheduled rounds at Wembley Park in Accra.

The Commonwealth Boxing Council revealed the news in their latest notice, while also confirming that the super-middleweight title has been declared vacant following the decision made by Luke Blackledge (21-2-2, 7 KOs) to relinquish the prize.

Zac Dunn, the Australian who has an unblemished record of 22-0 (18 KOs), will now be handed the opportunity to fight for the unoccupied belt against the highest available contender.

Meanwhile, Steve Goodwin won the purse bids to stage the vacant Commonwealth bantamweight title showdown between Duke Micah of Ghana (18-0, 17 KOs), 24, and 25-year-old Australian Andrew Moloney (9-0, 5 KOs), with the clash landing on a London-based show on November 12 at Bethnal Green’s famously historic York Hall venue.
