Reigning WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (45-2-1, 32 KOs) is in stable condition, being placed in one of Warsaw hospital after reportedly experiencing a drug overdose (antidepressants).

According to several local sources, it could have possibly been an attempt of suicide from one of the finest Polish boxers in the history of prizefighting.

Wlodarczyk, 29, was placed into an induced coma earlier today after being discovered by his teammates Tomasz Hutkowski and Pawel Kolodziej. He has successfully been taken out of the comatose condition at about 7 PM LT.

"Krzysztof's own life was in danger but now the danger has luckily been put behind our backs", commented BullIt Knockout Promotion's chief operator Andrzej Wasilewski. "Krzysztof has been dealing with a variety of hard family problems, and it has been getting worse from day to day recently.

"Krzysztof is conscious, and he can breathe on his own. Thanks God, his life isn't in danger anymore", said Wlodarczyk's brother-in-law and fellow promoter Tomasz Babilonski. "On Thursday noon, Krzysztof phoned me and said that he was feeling very sick after taking a considerable amount of drugs. He asked somebody to get in as soon as possible.

“I have known him for sixteen years already, and I felt something was going very wrong there. Krzysztof has already phoned two other cruisers (Tomasz) Hutkowski and (Pawel) Kolodziej. They were able to get in his apartment earlier than me. They reported Wlodarczyk was unconscious".

"It's hard for me to talk about it", added Babilonski. "Krzysztof is my dearest friend and my brother-in-law, and Gosia is my sister. Each couple has its good days and its bad days, but I have never known that had gone so far. I feel very bad for Krzyszek. He hasn't told me anything about doing himself but you never know what the other person is thinking about".

Wlodarczyk is presently in stable condition. His wife,Gosia has flown from Spain to Poland immediately after getting known about a horrible accident.

Meanwhile, a showdown with fellow cruiserweight titlist Marco Huck seems to be next-to-impossible to take place in the nearest future under these sad conditions.

BoxingScene wishes the WBC champion all the best and both mental and physical health first and foremost.
