The much anticipated rematch for vacant WBC cruiserweight belt between Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and Giacobe Fragomeni will finally take place on May 15th in Lodz, Poland.

When powerful Pole and the veteran Italian met for the first time in Rome last year, it was voted by WBC as one of the most exciting fights of 2009. The fight ended with a highly controversial draw after Wlodarczyk made Fragomeni quit in the ninth round but referee Ian John-Lewis refused to count the Italian out when he was floored for second time in the round. Instead of getting knocked out, he was given time to recover and made it through the final bell.

Wlodarczyk – Fragomeni II will be one of the richest boxing event to ever be staged in Poland. This is a very important clash for both fighters, and takes place in the very same venue where the “Polish fight of the century” between Tomasz Adamek and Andrew Golota was staged.

Wlodarczyk’s promoter Andrew Wasilewski did not want to take a risk again by going to Italy for the second time and won purse bid with an offer of $616,000 US dollars.  The budget of the whole event is expected to exceed one million dollars and the card will be filled with other top polish fighters like the man rated at #4 by WBC at light heavyweight, Dawid Kostecki, and former youth WBC light middleweight champion Damian Jonak. Tickets are already on sale.
