WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (47-2-1, 33 KOs) of Poland has a high peak to climb on June 22. On this date, Wlodarczyk, making the fifth defense of his second run as a 200lb champion, will try to repel the challenge of a very highly regarded Russian Rakhim Chakhkiev (16-0, 12 KOs), 2008 Beijing heavyweight gold medalist. The fight will present a significant task to accomplish for the Polish fighter, as it is scheduled to take place in Moscow, Russia, and WBC #2 (also ranked IBF #5, WBA #9 and WBO #10) Chakhkiev is on a high run recently with a streak of impressive wins.

“Chakhkiev is a very dangerous fighter”, said Wlodarczyk to ringpolska.pl. “He is a hard hitter plus he is a southpaw. However, I’m a champion, and I’m ready to defend. I don’t care the fight will be hel in Russia. I fought in the States, in Australia, in Italy – I was successful everywhere. Now I want to rock Russia by beating one of her best sons. Unfortunately, I won’t earn much for doing that”.

According to the sources, Wlodarczyk will earn $300,000 USD for fighting Chakhkiev.
