Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte is not impressed with the recent run by Olympic gold medal winner Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk became a star at cruiserweight, when he unified the entire division by winning the World Boxing Super Series and walking away with the IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO world titles.

He moved up the heavyweight division in 2019, and secured a stoppage win over very late replacement Chazz Witherspoon - but the victory was not overly impressive.

The unbeaten boxer returned in October of last year and won a much tougher than expected twelve round decision over division veteran Derek Chisora.

Usyk is currently the WBO's mandatory challenger to the title. The champion of the sanctioning body, Anthony Joshua, is finalizing the details of a unification with Tyson Fury - which is being targeted for a date in the summer.

To stay busy, Usyk's handlers are in talks for a high stakes fight with the much bigger Joe Joyce - with the WBO's interim-title at stake. Uysk holds an amateur win over Joyce, who captured a silver medal in the Olympic games.

Because they are both highly ranked contenders, there is a possibility that Usyk and Whyte could collide in the ring.

Whyte does not appear worried when breaking down Usyk's abilities as a heavyweight.

“As a heavyweight… Who has he fought at heavyweight? Derek Chisora? Like, come on, like… Derek Chisora is a few years past it now. You know, I’ve beaten Derek Chisora twice," Whyte told the AK & Barak show on DAZN.

"Obviously, Usyk struggled with [Chisora], you know what I mean. In that fight, Usyk was fighting scared. He was just, sorta jabbing and running away. He never, he never had Chisora in trouble at any point."
