WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO WEIGHS IN AT 240 POUNDS, RUSLAN CHAGAEV TIPS THE SCALES AT 225 POUNDS FOR SATURDAY’S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

The official weigh-in for the Wladimir Klitschko heavyweight championship defense of his IBF/IBO/WBO heavyweight titles against WBA “champion in recess” Ruslan Chagaev took place on Friday at Karstadt Sports, the biggest dealer of sporting goods in Dortmund, and it was open to the public. The final workout on Wednesday at the Mercedes Center in Essen was also attended by the public.

Ring announcer extraordinaire Michael Buffer called the contestants to the scale, with 2,000 spectators cheering in delight.

The weights were announced as follows:

Chagaev´s weight was 102 Kilos (225 Pounds), while Wladimir tipped the scales at 109 Kilos (240 Pounds).

Both fighters looked sharp and determined in front of the enthusiastic crowd, Klitschko impressed with his ripped and muscular physique, and flexing a double-biceps pose for the crowd.

The fight will be broadcast worldwide. In Germany hosting channel will be RTL, ESPN Classic will broadcast the fight in the US and Setanta covers in the UK.

 

Klitschko, who hails from Kiev, Ukraine and fights out of Germany, has a ring record of 52-3, with 46 victories coming by way of knockout. Chagaev, the southpaw born in Uzbekistan and now residing in Hamburg, is 25-0 with 17 KO’s and one draw.
