CAGUAS, PUERTO RICO - As part of their “Drug Free Kids” Program, former world champions Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon and Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr., and the World Boxing Organization spend time for the third consecutive year in this Thanksgiving Holiday with kids and youngsters of the Barriada Morales in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

“For three consecutive years we are here in this Thanksgiving Holiday with these boys and girls and we will continue to do so. We want for them to stay away from drugs and all of the problems that are on the street” expressed WBO President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel. “It’s a big job that all the people do in this institution for these kids to move forward in life.”

Laura Vicuna Home is a non-profit entity directed by the Daughters of Maria Auxiliadora (Salesiana Sisters) that dedicates to bring kids and youngsters from the age of 4 to 14 to an educational program and prevention in their free time, the programs are divided in Tutoring, Homework and Artistic Projects. Hundreds of boys and girls of the Caguas area participate in it. The WBO sponsored a Thanksgiving dinner and gifts given away in a bingo. 

Also present besides Calderon, Vazquez Jr. and Valcarcel were: Luis Perez (WBO Ratings Chairman); WBO #3 rated super bantamweight Jonathan Oquendo; WBO Latino lightweight champ Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez; and top prospects Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez and brothers McWilliams and McJoe Arroyo.
