MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council, informed BoxingScene.com that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) stands to lose both of his WBC world titles on Saturday night when he faces Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) in a rematch.

Mayweather is the WBC champion at welterweight and junior middleweight. He also holds the WBA title in both weight divisions.

Initially, it was reported that Mayweather was going to defend both of his WBC titles on Saturday night, but the undefeated fighter would later change his position on having his junior middleweight title at stake.

Regardless of Mayweather's position on defending the junior middleweight title against Maidana, Sulaiman made it clear that a loss at 147 would cause him to lose his WBC title at 154, which would become vacant - and then the two highest available contenders would battle for that title.

"Yes, that is correct, he would lose both WBC titles. [And he would lose the WBC title at 154] because he would be losing in a division under [junior middleweight]," Sulaiman said.
