On February 25th, once-beaten heavyweight contender Andrzej Wawrzyk (33-1, 19 KOs) will travel to the Unites States to face the biggest challenge of his professional career, when he faces WBC heavyweight champion Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs).

The fight takes place in the champion's backyard, from Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama. Wilder vs. Wawrzyk will be the main event of the next edition of Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes.

Wilder returns for the first time since stopping Chris Arreola after eight-rounds of action last July on FOX. In that fight, Wilder suffered hand and bicep injuries. He underwent surgery and the rehabilitation kept him out of the ring for the remainder of the year.

Wawrzyk has won six fights in a row since getting stopped in three rounds by Alexander Povetkin in 2013. None of those opponents were anywhere close to Wilder's level.

Wawrzyk's head trainer, Fedor Lapin, believes they still have a very good chance to pull off an upset. Back in 2015, Lapin traveled to America to work the corner of his tough cruiserweight, Krzysztof Glowacki, who pulled off a huge upset when he came off the floor to secure a knockout victory over Marco Huck to capture the WBO world title.

"Yes, it is a big challenge for Andrzej, and for me and for all of us," said Lapin to Polsat. "A fight for a world title in the United States, before the eyes of millions - it is the dream of every boy who ever put on a pair of boxing gloves. We must win."

"When the fight was announced for Krzysztof Glowacki against Marco Huck, a lot of experts do not give Krzysztof a chance, but boxing... this is a very unpredictable sport. Big surprises happen all the time. Andrzej has a chance to become a part of boxing history, and we will do everything to make this a reality. All you need to do - put in the hard work, have mental strength and, in my opinion, in this particular case the maturity of Andrzej Wawrzyk is very important. The Andrzej that you see now and the one you saw a year ago - they are different people."
