Dmitriy Salita, promoter for heavyweight contender Otto Wallin, says an 80-20 monetary split is more than fair for Dillian Whyte to receive for a mandatory fight with Tyson Fury.

The World Boxing Council recently ordered an 80-20 split in Fury's favor, with a purse bid initially scheduled for January 11.

Whyte is attempting to secure a bigger split and is currently appealing the 80-20 split ruling - with the purse bid being pushed back by a week to January 18.

Fury is looking to fight on March 26, likely in the UK.

Salita has been involved in numerous world title negotiations. He firmly backs the WBC's decision to give Fury's the lion's share of the money.

"Tyson Fury is the star, I believe that this is a fair split. The purse split sounds right, Tyson Fury is a superstar and a big draw," Salita said to Metro.co.uk.

"Even with the purse split at 20 percent, Whyte would still stand to make a lot of money. Obviously Fury is the hottest thing, not just in boxing but maybe in all sports; his last fight with Deontay Wilder was one for the ages, one we’ll remember for a long time to come, a fight that resurrected boxing."

Wallin was scheduled to face Whyte last October - with the British boxer withdrawing with a shoulder injury.

If the Fury vs. Whyte falls apart, then Wallin is ready, willing and able to fight Whyte.

"If Dillian Whyte does not fight Tyson Fury and it falls apart, there is no better fight for Dillian Whyte than Otto Wallin," Salita said.

"They’ll have a chance to finish that chapter and put a stop to John Fury, Bob Arum, and Frank Warren and different boxing personalities, who say that ‘Otto Wallin beats Dillian Whyte’.

"Otto was literally on his way to the airport when he got that call to say Whyte was injured and it created a lot of bad blood and made it personal. So the best way to settle this is an old fashioned duel. Anytime when Whyte is healed and ready for the challenge. If Whyte chooses to fight someone else, that’s all you need to know about Whyte and his mindset. I reached out to Eddie after the fight was cancelled about a Whyte-Wallin redo and some other possibilities but I am yet to hear back."
