The developmental phase of Vito Mielnicki Jr.’s career will continue November 25 in Las Vegas.

BoxingScene.com has learned that the 21-year-old junior middleweight will meet Romania’s Daniel Buciuc in a 10-round, 154-pound contest on the David Benavidez-Demetrius Andrade undercard. The bout between Mielnicki (15-1, 10 KOs) and Buciuc (12-1, 6 KOs) will likely be streamed on Showtime Sports’ YouTube channel before the pay-per-view portion of the Benavidez-Andrade show begins at 8 p.m. EDT from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Mielnicki will fight for the first time with respected trainer Ronnie Shields in his corner. The Roseland, New Jersey native has previously worked with Joe Goossen and Raul “Chino” Rivas, but he has trained for the past few months at Shields’ gym in Stafford, Texas.

Mielnicki has been sparring to get ready for his November bout with WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo. Houston’s Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) is expected to end a 29-month layoff on the Benavidez-Andrade undercard against Jose Benavidez Jr. (28-2-1, 19 KOs), David’s older brother, but their 12-round, 160-pound championship clash hasn’t been officially announced.

Mielnicki last fought April 22, when he viciously knocked out Jose Sanchez Charles with a right hand in the fourth round of a scheduled 10-rounder on the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Mexico’s Charles (20-4-1, 12 KOs) had not been knocked out in 12 years as a pro prior to his loss to Mielnicki.

Mielnicki has won seven fights in a row since Philadelphia’s James Martin (10-4-1, 0 KOs) upset him by majority decision in an eight-round bout in April 2021 at Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. An immediate rematch between Mielnicki and Martin was canceled the day they weighed in because Martin came in more than four pounds overweight in July 2021.

Buciuc, 30, has lost only a 10-round unanimous decision to unbeaten Albanian prospect Ermal Hadribeaj (16-0-1, 6 KOs) last November 12 at Yume Night Club in Dubai.
