Former EBU super middleweight champion Vitali Tsypko continues to recover from injuries and doesn’t know when he will be able to return in the ring. In recent years the Ukrainian has been an important figure in super middleweight and in his last bout lost to Librado Andrade in IBF super middleweight title eliminator. In exclusive BoxingScene.com interview, Tsypko spoke about his recovery and future plans.

BoxingScene.com - Vitali, how do you feel and when will you return to the ring?

- My injuries plague me since last summer, I can’t recover fully. At the moment I can’t even run. At first I had shoulder injury, so I decided to take off the pressure from hands and started running, but in the end stretched hip ligaments. The specialists told that I needed operation because without it the recovery would take a long time. But I’m not keen on surgery, so I decided to wait.

When I start training again I’ll decide on my return. The shoulder is getting better little by little, but the second injury is still worrying me. I hope that the situation will get clearer in summer. I don’t want to look far ahead.

BoxingScene.com - What is the reaction of your promoters to your health problems?

- They understand the situation for now. We can’t discuss any future plans yet; only when I recover we’ll start looking for variants.

BoxingScene.com - Have you thought about quitting boxing because of health problems?

- I think that everything is the way it’s meant to be. My injuries aren’t grave and I hope that everything will pass by itself. I’ll have to psychologically re-adjust for work and trainings after that and with right attitude and energy return in the ring.

BoxingScene.com - A lot of your Ukrainian colleagues moved from Germany to the USA? Have you thought about it?

- Everything depends on the offers I get. I haven’t received any yet and never discussed it. All in all I’m pretty satisfied with my German promotional company Sauerland Event.
