Argentine junior welterweight César Cuenca (39-0, 1KOs), the WBO/WBC Latino champion at junior welterweight, is waiting for confirmation of a WBO final eliminator against Victor Ortiz (28-2-1, 22KOs) with the winner landing a mandatory shot at current champion Timothy Bradley, who is scheduled to face WBC champion Devon Alexander in a unification on January 29. Ortiz has a very tough challenge scheduled for December 11 against Lamont Peterson.

The final eliminator was mentioned at the WBO's 23rd annual convention in Colombia. What's weird is the WBO reportedly sanctioned next Saturday's bout between Zab Judah and Lucas Matthysse for the vacant number two position in the rankings, but Cuenca is ranked in the number two position, according to October's official WBO rankings, and Ortiz is ranked at number one.

Cuenca said Ortiz "was a very difficult fight for anyone. If I win this fight, I should have my chance."

A strict boxer, with only a single knockout on his record, he still mananged to end the win streaks of Alex De Jesús, Mauricio Ariel Pereira and holds a win over Jose Alfaro. He's never fought outside of his country and knows that a possible fight against Ortiz would have to take place in the United States.

"Ortiz is strong and difficult for anyone. I'm going to have to go all or nothing. Fighting overseas will will make things a little more complicated, but I'm well prepared and I have a lot of faith in myself and in God," Cuenca said.
