Andy Vences wants to continue his winning way with a dominating performance against fellow unbeaten Erick De Leon.

The current WBC Continental Americas super featherweight champion knew eventually he and De Leon would cross paths whether they fought against each for a world title or if it was to get him closer to his goal of becoming world champion.

Vences, (20-0, 12KOs will face De Leon (17-0, 10KOs) in the ten round co-feature bout on March 10th from Carson, CA.  ESPN will televise this bout as the supporting attracting to WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez defending against Great Britain’s Scott Quigg.

“On March 10th, I’m fighting Erick De Leon, 17-0 with 10 knockouts.  I saw this fight happening a while back.  Vences told ATG Radio

“I knew it was going to happen so now that now that it got announced, it’s not to my surprise.

“I feel I’m physically and mentally ready for this step. We’ve never seen Erick go past six rounds.  So let’s just all keep that in mind.  He’s been scheduled to fight ten rounds but has never gone past six.

“It’s going to be a great fight.  I’m very confident in what I know and what I’m capable of doing. I can’t see this fight going without a late stoppage in my favor or some kind of knockdown.

“Whether it’s early or mid through the fight, I doubt this fight is going to go ten rounds because both of these styles are going to clash. I just can’t wait.  It’s been countdown for me since the fight was announced.  I’m excited.”

The 26-year-old Vences has seen his overall game and confidence step up since changing up his training staff last year, yet he plans sticking to same routine of hard work and perseverance.

“I just want to thank my coach Angel Cordon who trains out here in Martinez, California.  I’m also following the SNAC protocol program with a track coach," Vences said.

“I’m not really doing anything different.  After my Casey Ramos fight, I ended up making a lot of changes in my training camp where I needed to make because where my optimal performance was affected in that fight.  That’s where I made big drastic changes.

“What I would say changed drastically for me leading up to this fight is practicing a lot of the southpaw techniques and getting a lot of southpaw sparring.

“We’re looking at this fight as more of a technical advantage fight.

“I feel technicality is going to be the thing that makes a difference.

“I always come in shape, I’m always in shape and I work extremely hard.
