According to Glendale police in California, Vanes got into an argument with his wife in their Glendale-area home on September 15. Law enforcement sources allege that the altercation started as a verbal fight, but then things took a violent turn.

Vanes allegedly grabbed his wife by the arm and is believed to have headbutted her in the face. TMZ states that she was able to flee the home ... and after cops showed up to the scene, they found her with a bruise on her arm and an injured nose. She declined medical aid, but a police report was taken, and Vanes was arrested the next morning. He was booked for felony domestic violence.

There was a bond set at $50,000. and Vanes was released later that day.

Vanes (36-4-1, 21 KOs), 33-years-old, started his pro boxing career back in 2005.

Vanes has been inactive since May of 2018 - when he was stopped in two rounds by Gennady Golovkin.

He took the fight on very late notice after original opponent, Canelo Alvarez, was pulled from the fight after testing positive for a banned substance. It was Vanes' first fight in two years, after losing to Erislandy Lara in a rematch in May of 2016.

A few years ago Vanes parted ways with adviser Al Haymon of Premier Boxing Champions and signed up with veteran promoter Don King. Since then he's been on the shelf due to promotional issues with King.
