LOS ANGELES -- Vanes Martirosyan has fought on HBO twice, both times fighting southpaws counter-punchers.

If a contract is finalized for Martirosyan to fight Demetrius Andrade, his third fight on HBO will be against a southpaw known for boxing rather than brawling.

Martirosyan advised BoxingScene.com that a deal is close for a WBO junior middleweight title fight against Andrade on Nov. 23 in Macau, China on the HBO pay-per-view undercard of Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios.

"I talked to (manager) Cameron (Dunkin) (on Saturday) and he told me Nov. 23 looks like it's going to be done, so as long as Andrade is man of his word, that's all that matters to me," Martirosyan said. "We'll do the contract and the paperwork later on. As far as what I've heard, it's 23rd of November."

The 27-year-old native of Armenia has been a top junior middleweight for a few years, but the proposed bout would represent his first world title shot. Martirosyan's career stagnated after his HBO debut in the summer of 2010, but his recent connection to top manager Cameron Dunkin seems to be paying dividends. A title victory would catapult him in the loaded 154-pound division.

"It's a big win," Martirosyan said of a proposed victory. "A lot of people have been ducking so I hope this doesn't make a lot of people duck since I'll have a title and now they'll have to come after me."

Martirosyan is actually anxious to fight another southpaw in Andrade, a fighter he knows well from their days in the unpaid ranks. Andrade represented the U.S. in the 2008 Olympics.

"He's a good boxer, I know from the amateurs that he's a good boxer," Martirosyan said. "I love southpaws, man. I love fighting southpaws and my right hand is going to be the key in the fight."

In Martirosyan's last fight, he fought to a technical draw with Erislandy Lara on HBO after he suffered a nasty gash over his left eye, an eye that has now been operated on by plastic surgeons on three occasions.

"It was (frustrating) because he (Lara) told me he was going to bring the fight and I was happy for that," Martirosyan said, "but then he started running and doing all that stuff, he wasn't a man of his word."

The 2004 U.S. Olympian said he'd like to fight Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, Austin Trout or rematch Erislandy Lara next year --  he's that confident of victory over Andrade.

"Probably like 90-10 for me," he said with a laugh when asked how he'd handicap his fight with Andrade. "I don't think anybody can beat me, bro. ...

" I don't have that big of a fanbase, but I have a fanbase that's getting bigger day by day, so you guys will see in the Andrade fight. I've been waiting for this opportunity."
