This Saturday, Two Feathers Promotions is putting on an eight bout card at the American Sports University in San Bernardino California.  The card is headlined by undefeated bantamweight Michael Franco 14-0 (9) in a match up for the WBC Intercontinental Youth title.

The 21 year old Franco reportedly had a 46-1 amateur record that included a Ringside National Championship.

Al Franco, Michael’s father and one of the event’s coordinators commented, “Michael was a good amateur, but he always had that pro-style, he has a big punch in both hands. The card is a good card.  There are eight fights with a lot of good prospects.  Efrain Esquivias 4-0 (2) was a big amateur and he’s fighting a tough kid from Oxnard and then we have Joey Silva 9-1 (4) another amateur standout fighting Khabir Suleymanov 6-0 (2) so it’s a good competitive card.  We also have Kerry Foley 11-0 (9) out of Australia who’s another hard punching undefeated fighter.”

It’s an outdoor event, and doors open at 1:30 with boxing to begin at 3:00. Tickets are priced at 20$, 35$, 75$, and 100$ with members of the military to receive a fifty percent discount. “We always like to support the military when we can,” noted Franco.   For tickets call (760) 559-6419.

Favorite Quote: - After going three rounds with John L. Sullivan, Mike Donovan commented that getting hit by the American Irish Champion was “like being hit by a runaway horse.”

I like Alfredo Angulo this weekend in a war that will end around the sixth.  If ordinary punchers like Jesse Feliciano and David Estrada can stun Cintron what’s the naturally bigger and hard hitting Angulo going to do to him.

I thought Sergio Martinez easily won the fight with Cintron and thought the officiating in the bout was disgraceful.  Talk about having to knock somebody out twice to win.

It will be interesting to see how much Berto learned in his fight with Collazo.
