French heavyweight Tony Yoka didn't just lose to Martin Bakole this past weekend, he also lost his position as official challenger for the vacant EBU heavyweight title with German boxer Agit Kabayel in the opposite corner.

The EBU has now appointed Turkish fighter Umut Camkiran as the new official co-challenger. Camrikan (18-0) holds the obscure EE-EU title (open for countries outside of the EU but members of EBU).

Both Camirkan and Kabayel fought on SES' show in Magdeburg Saturday night but only Kabayel is promoted by SES.

The EBU has set June 7 as the deadline for purse bids.

Late result: Yusuf Kanguel (21-5-1) stopped former world title challenger Avni Yildirim (24-5) in the tenth and final round on May 14 in Istanbul, Turkey. Kanguel, who previously lost to Yildirim, was down in the fourth. Yildrim was floored in the third and eighth and found himself under heavy pressure in the tenth when it was stopped.

Kanguel won the vacant WBC-ABC title and apparently also something called the WBC Turkey title.

Ahmet Oner promoted the show and in the chief support French heavyweight Mourad Aliev stopped Bosnian Mirko Tintor.

French lightweight Jaouad Belmehdi (15-0-3) is now mandatory challenger for the EU title held by 45-year-old Italian veteran Emiliano Marsili (41-0-1).

It deserves to be mentioned again that Belmedhi, who is of Moroccan descent, calls himself "Le bombardier Marocain", just like another decent fighter from Morocco: Marcel Cerdan.
