UK Anti-Doping and the British Boxing Board of Control have reportedly won an appeal against the verdict to lift Conor Benn’s temporary suspension.

Both UKAD and the BBBC confirmed in August that they intended on challenging the ruling from the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) that he could resume his career in the UK.

With Benn having since fought and won twice in the US with foreign boxing licences – against Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson – according to the Daily Mail, the organisations have since succeeded.

It regardless remains unclear whether the development will lead to Benn’s suspension from fighting in the UK being reimposed, or whether the case surrounding the 27 year old will be escalated to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The same publication report that the BBBC and UKAD declined to comment, and also that representatives for Benn say that no suspension has been ordered and that he remains free to fight.

Benn twice tested positive for the banned substance clomifene in 2022, in the build-up to his cancelled fight with Chris Eubank Jr. He has maintained he is the victim of accidental contamination.

The last time he fought in a British ring was in April 2022, when he stopped Chris van Heerden. Benn had previously described the previous ruling from the NADP as “vindication” of his innocence.
