Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are clear to meet for the undisputed heavyweight title.
Filip Hrgovic is the mandatory challenger for Usyk's IBF belt but the governing body have given their consent for a fight between Fury and Usyk to happen by March 2024.
ESPN's Mike Coppinger has reported that both boxers have signed contracts for the fight.
Fury (33-0-1, 24 KO's) will put his WBC belt on the line whilst former undisputed cruiserweight champion, Usyk (21-0, 14 KO's), will risk his WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO titles when the pair fight to decide the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield in 1999.
Fury will proceed with his heavily hyped 'Battle of the Baddest' with MMA superstar, Francis Ngannou, before setting his sights on Usyk, who successfully defended his belts with a ninth round stoppage of Daniel Dubois in August.
Usyk was in action last month in Poland, where he stopped WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. There was controversy during the fifth, when Usyk went down from a body shot. The referee ruled the punch as being low, with Usyk down on the mat for several minutes. The fight would eventually restart and Usyk would drop Dubois for the count in the ninth round.
A date and venue for Fury-Usyk will be confirmed soon.
