Many were shocked on Friday when IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury withdrew from his October 29th rematch with Wladimir Klitschko.

Last November, Fury (25-0, 18KOs) pulled off the upset of the year when he won a twelve round decision over Klitschko in Germany. Very few expected Fury to win the fight and it was the first loss for Klitschko in over a decade.

The recent bit of news was a stunner, because it's the second withdrawal for Fury. They were scheduled to have a rematch in July, but Fury withdrew with an ankle injury.

Fury's handlers issued a statement to the media, revealed that a physician deemed the boxer 'medically unfit' to move forward with the contest.

According to his uncle and trainer Peter Fury, the controversial fighter has been mentally broken by the numerous controversies, the critics and the lack of support from the UK fans. There is also the ongoing dispute with drug testing organization UKAD, who claims Fury tested positive for a banned substance in early 2015.

"I think it's a culmination of things. I think when he won the world title, the way he was treated... he said to me, 'I came back off the boat, I picked up the paper, I expected to be celebrated but straight away the hate campaign started.' He was complaining a lot about it. He said, 'You know we're just not accepted, I won the world title and this is how I get treated. It's almost as if there's a vendetta against me since I won'. So that didn't please him too much," Peter Fury told IFL TV.

"I think he has said on many occasions, 'What's it for? Because if I am not being credited for the work I've done and for what I've achieved, why am I bothering?' So I think it's created a lot of negativity in him as a person. It's just the lack of respect he's received on a global scale, so that's had an effect. He come in the gym for a rematch, he did injure his ankle. It was genuine, he was having a good camp but even so when we were abroad in Holland, he kept saying: 'I'm gonna do it... I'm losing interest in this game.'

"From then we had various issues with him, he's been snapping a lot. He's coming in the gym, his mind was elsewhere some days. I think because of the witch-hunt against him, the recent allegations and everything else has just put him over the edge. And he said if this is what boxing is doing, then I don't want it. It's very disappointing for me... he's been driven underground with it. He's at breaking point and now he is seeking help. There will be a statement issued probably on Tuesday and basically nothing means anything. He's at an all-time low."
