WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is standing firm on his decision to retire from the sport of boxing.

Last month, Fury retained his title with a sixth round knockout of Dillian Whyte, before a crowd of 94,000 at Wembley Stadium in London.

Afterwards, the 33-year-old Fury expressed his desire to retire - explaining that there was nothing left to prove.

Now weeks later, Fury maintains that he still wants to walk away.

"I am very happy and contented to be retired. It's been a long time coming and I am so much enjoying my retirement," Fury said.

A few days ago, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman revealed that his organization will soon be reaching out to Fury to confirm his future plans.

If Fury indicates to them that he plans to retire, then the belt will become vacant and the top two contenders will be ordered to fight for the title.

"The WBC will be communicating with Tyson Fury and his promoters about his future plans in the coming week. It is our dream to see fighters retire with such greatness. Undefeated champion, financially protected with a loving family and a great future outside the ring," Sulaiman said to Sky Sports.

"I am very happy and satisfied if this is his final decision and will fully support him and will be close to him for the rest of his life."

Fury has mentioned the scenario of taking part in exhibition fights with opponents such as UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

"[Ngannou] is on my hit list in an exhibition fight, however, he wants it. In a cage, in a boxing ring, boxing gloves, UFC gloves - we can make it happen," Fury said.

"I think everyone wants to see it. He's a monster of a guy, I'm a monster of a guy, so it'll be a clash of the titans for sure."
