Frank Warren, the co-promoter for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, says his fighter is still moving ahead with a planned voluntary defense on December 5th in the UK.

Warren explains that undefeated Agit Kabayel has been selected as the opponent and already issued a contract for the bout.

Kabayel, like Fury, is co-promoted by Top Rank in the United States.

Kabayel has 24 hours to sign the contract or Fury will move on to the next name on the list, which could be Carlos Takam - another heavyweight co-promoted by Top Rank.

The event will take place behind closed doors, as the UK recently issued further lockdown restrictions due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"Tyson’s fighting on December 5," Warren told Talk Sport. "We’re giving the guy we wanna fight, which is Kabayel, we’re giving him 24 hours now to sign the contract or we’re gonna move on. He’s undefeated and has a win on his record over Derek Chisora. He was the European champion and he’s ranked by the WBC.

‘That’s who’s sitting at the moment on a contract and we’re waiting. He’s got about 24 hours now to make his mind up to sign it and send it back or we’ll move on. He’s the fight, subject to the contract being signed."

Fury was last seen in action back in February, when he stopped Deontay Wilder to capture the WBC title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Wilder exercised an immediate rematch clause to force a third fight. The bout was pushed back several times due the coronavirus pandemic.

A few weeks ago, Fury and his handlers claimed the rematch clause had expired and they planned to go in a different direction. Wilder, who claims the rematch clause is still valid, has recently threatened to file a lawsuit to force Fury to honor the deal.
