Fantasy Springs Casino, Indio, California - Middleweight veteran Tureano Johnson (21-2-1, 15 KOs) beat down and stopped Jason Quigley (16-1, 12 KOs) in nine rounds of action.

Johnson has been trying to rebuild his career since losing by TKO to Sergiy Derevyanchenko in August 2017. He came back in Februayr of 2019 and fought to a lackluster eight doun split draw with Fernando Castaneda.

Quigley was in action back in March, and stopped Mathias Eklund in two rounds.

Quigley was boxing very well for the first two rounds, but Johnson was all over him in the third, keeping him on the ropes and working him over with a high volume of punches.

In the sixth, Quigley was being punished, looked tired and he was cut over his right eye. There wasn't much of a change in the seventh. Quigley was throwing punches, but there was nothing on them. He was lacking steam in the shots, while Johnson was unloading with both hands and doing much more damage with counters and hard hooks to the head.

Quigley was really hurting and taking heavy blows to the head and body in the ninth. He was banged up by a body shot and seemed to be in real trouble when the round closed. At the end of the round, his trainer Dominic Ingle stopped the fight.

Super bantamweight Leonardo Baez (15-2, 8 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated two-time Olympian Alberto Melian (5-1, 3 KOs). The scores of 97-93, 97-93, 97-93.
