Bowie Tupou has hit back at allegations he took a dive in his heavyweight boxing clash with Joseph Parker in Invercargill on Saturday night.

The Australian boxer's camp have also stated they believe Parker's knock-out blow was an "unintentional foul" and should be deemed illegal.

"For everyone asking, the fight was not rigged & NO way did I take the fall (sic). I came to fight but this happened. In a heart beat I would take a rematch if this is illegal," Tupou said in a Facebook post.

His team have also taken to social media over Parker's blow: "We want to clarify that Joseph Parker and his camp are not being accused of anything. But Bowie Tupou's record and reputation has been tarnished by what we believe was an unintentional punch that landed on the back top part of his head. If the two fighters were in a clinch and one of them was hitting that spot..The ref would immediately warn that fighter," a post on the Team Fenech fitness and health Facebook page read.

"We believe the ending was not deliberate but certainly controversial. In boxing this is called an unintentional foul. Temple shots are legal, but top of the head is not," the post goes on to say.

It, too, rubbishes claims Tupou took a dive: "Anybody that saw the first 30 seconds will know that Tupou came to fight.

"Bowie trained hard for this fight and came to win. We believe the ending was not deliberate but certainly controversial.

"I was there and helped pick Bowie up. His eyes were rolling in his head. That shot landed on the top back part of his head..(sic) Like a rugby player that puts his head in the wrong position..It pushes down with force and cuts the wind pipe and oxygen to the brain. Causing lights out..And that is exactly what happened."
