Tonight at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, Jessie Magdaleno (24-0, 17 KOs) make the first defense of his WBO 122-pound title versus Adeilson Dos Santos. Magdaleno won this title back in November out-pointing division veteran Nonito Donaire over twelve rounds on the Manny Pacquiao-Jessie Vargas undercard at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

In the past, Magdaleno had a history of being undisciplined and not making weight. But all that changed as he switched to trainer Manuel Robles. So is Magdaleno as focused as he was for their first camp?

"Let me tell you something... Jessie's a better fighter. Jessie, the way he's been doing as of late, the last few sparring sessions that we've had and going twelve rounds and not only that, the quality of sparring partners that we've been bringing him. He's been looking very, very well," said Robles, earlier this week from the Rock in Carson, California.

"I've been very impressed with Jessie. I told Jessie,'you look better now than when you fought Nonito,'" continued Robles, who will be a busy man as he will also be working the corner for the night's main event as he has WBO featherweight belt-holder, Oscar Valdez, who takes on mandatory challenger Miguel Marriaga.

Robles believes that Magdaleno understands the responsibility of being a world champion.

"I think so, I think he's taken it well," he states. "Jessie's a good kid, he doesn't allow the situation to overwhelm him. So he's a good kid, he's really down to earth and he wants to learn and he wants to get better. We've got to feed him the fact that he's a world champion, you've got to be more responsible, more disciplined, grow as a fighter, grow as an individual. I believe we've succeeded in that."
