Top Rank president Todd DuBoef, who co-promotes WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, expects his boxer to be in top form in the undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.

The fight was initially scheduled to land on December 23, but the date will now shift to early 2024.

Duboef expects the fight to come off as planned.

"The heavy lifting's done relatively. The heavy lifting of getting people to agree is done. I haven't felt any of the parties involved, that were ready to do this in December, going in a different direction other than going forward," DuBoef said to Sky Sports.

"Now we're just trying to finetune some of this, the date and everything like that. I think there's a promise, there's a glimmer of hope out there, a big glimmer, that this will hopefully come to fruition. I think in the coming weeks, it might not be weeks even, days, we should be seeing something that solidifies everything."

Last month, Fury's performance shocked the boxing world when he struggled to win a ten round split decision over MMA veteran Francis Ngannou, who was making his professional debut as a boxer.

Most expected the contest to be a mismatch, but it became a very competitive bout. Fury was dropped in the third round and took more punishment than expected.

DuBoef anticipates a much better version of Fury when he steps in the ring with Usyk.

"I think he was clear after the fight [with Ngannou] saying, 'Hey, this is all on me, I did what I did.' I don't think he showed his full arsenal and when he's razor sharp and he's razor focused, what he's capable of doing and I think on the other hand Francis was able to show what he was able to do when people had such low expectations," DuBoef said.

"I think next time you see Tyson Fury he's going to be razor, razor sharp."
