Fringe lightweight contender Tony Luis earned a stoppage victory when Noe Nunez did not answer the bell for round seven late Saturday night in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

Luis improves to 23-3, with 8 KOs, while Nunez of Mexico falls to 17-5-1, with 13 KOs.

Luis mostly dominated the action throughout the fight, breaking the taller Nunez down with each passing round, delighting the hometown crowd. After the sixth round, a battered Nunez remained on his stool.

The 29-year-old Luis has won his last four bouts since his decision loss to then-interim WBA lightweight titleholder Derry Mathews in April of 2015.

Unbeaten welterweight prospect Custio Clayton improved to 11-0, with 9 KOs after stopping Alfredo Chavez (12-9, with 10 KOs) of Mexico after the end of the first round.

Lightweight Will Madera (9-0, with 4 KOs) of Albany, N.Y. stopped Omar Valenzuela (9-6-2, with 4 KOs) of Mexico at 2:26 of round six.

The card was promoted by Liveco Boxing.

IN OTHER NEWS: Everything is in place for Shakur Stevenson to make his pro debut against Edgar Brito, Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman confirmed to BoxingScene.com.

The six round featherweight bout will take place at the Stubhub Center in Carson, California and will open the pay-per-view broadcast.

Stevenson, who signed a promotional deal with Top Rank in early February, represented the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he won the silver medal.

The Newark, New Jersey resident was sought after by many promoters, including Roc Nation and Mayweather Promotions, before settling with Top Rank.

Stevenson is managed by James Prince, Josh Dubin, and Andre Ward.

Brito (3-2-1, with 2 KOs), who hails from the Phoenix area, began his pro career unbeaten in his first four bouts. He has not fought since September of 2015, when he lost a four round split decision to Julian Lopez.

Four of Brito’s last five bouts have been fought as a featherweight.
